Project Samvedna

About Project Samvedna

Project Samvedna is a volunteer coalition of doctors from the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia all working together to support India through the COVID crisis. It was a short term initiative targeting the surge of COVID cases in India. The purpose was to provide tele-medicine counseling via a hotline for COVID patients in India to guide care and triage if a patient needed to go the emergency room or be managed at home. This way, COVID patients could make informed decisions about their care from home without burdening the overwhelmed healthcare system.

Through this initiative, Dr Shajahan led and hosted COVID town halls via Facebook lives. One town hall had a reach of about 6.8K views: topics included signs, symptoms, treatment of COVID-19, misinformation and COVID-19, vaccines, mental health and COVID, post COVID care, food is medicine, Ayurveda treatments, live Q&A and more. The outreach was targeted to New Delhi India. After several town halls, Dr. Shajahan’s content was then translated into various languages and put on platforms across India.

Dr. Shajahan further offered support to healthcare workers in India by writing an op-Ed, “A Letter to a Healthcare Hero From A US Doctor” for NDTV with an average of 11.6 million unique visitors to its site.
